Version 2

Terms and Conditions

Effective Oct 14, 2026

Purpose and agreement

87 Family provides a private family workspace for keeping in touch, sharing records and media, organizing activities, maintaining family history, and participating in family learning and review. These Terms cover the website and supported applications, including later improvements within these purposes. Material new collection, uses, or audiences require updated disclosures and any required affirmative agreement before they apply.

Accounts and membership

Use an account authorized for your family and provide accurate account information. Protect your password and devices, report suspected misuse, and use only your own credentials. Administrators may approve membership and provision accounts but cannot accept an adult's agreement. A child must have the verified guardian authorization required by the applicable rules. Family relationships, genealogy visibility, and administrator status do not by themselves grant access to another person's private communications. This instance is operated for private, noncommercial household use by members using it within Utah. Accounts are available only to people age 13 or older; users aged 13–17 also need the required verified guardian authorization.

Content and permissions

You retain your rights in content you submit. You give the operator a limited license to store, process, display, transmit, back up, and make compatible derivatives of it only to operate the disclosed services for authorized audiences. Submit content only when you have the necessary rights and permission. Sharing a link does not expand its source permissions. Moving content to a wider audience requires authority and an explicit sharing action.

Communications and family review

Messages voice and video calls are automatically transcribed for every participant. The service processes live Messages call audio to create text but does not save audio or video recordings of those calls. Family Meetings automatically record audio and video for the authorized Family Meeting archive, including its existing transcription workflow; Messages transcript expiry does not apply to that archive. Messages, transcripts, and supported submitted content are checked using automated safety and family-review rules. Content may be reviewed by conversation participants and specifically authorized family supervisors within the access shown for the account or conversation. Ordinary call transcripts are deleted 30 days after the call ends, unless flagged by the system or an authorized father for longer retention under the published retention policy. Adult review relationships require specific authorization identifying the reviewer and scope. Reviewer names, scope, and effective dates appear in the account or conversation. Supervisors do not gain authority to speak as you or join a call invisibly. Submitted voice messages, photos, videos, and documents are stored attachments, with a different lifecycle from transient live-call audio.

Automated assistance

Search, transcription, matching, and AI assistance can be incorrect or incomplete. Safety signals request human review and do not establish a diagnosis, guilt, or intent. These services do not guarantee emergency detection or intervention. Because covered call audio is not stored, there is no later playback or audio-based verification of a transcript. Private communications are excluded from general family AI retrieval unless a separately disclosed and authorized feature permits access under the original restrictions.

Responsible use and concerns

Do not use the service for threats, exploitation, harassment, unlawful content, unauthorized disclosure, impersonation, or attacks on accounts and systems. Use the report or help controls to raise concerns. Reporting does not automatically give all administrators access to a conversation. A concern about a guardian needs a separately authorized safe review route. When this route is enabled in the published settings, you choose an enrolled adult reviewer, exclude implicated people, and affirm sharing of a bounded message window until the displayed expiry. Reviewer enrollment is voluntary and policy-bound. Reporting shares frozen message text references, not a whole conversation, call transcripts, or independently restricted attachments. Sharing and named review end no later than 30 days after sharing begins. At expiry, report access is revoked and report-only retention holds end. No separate temporary message or attachment copy is created; existing messages remain under the ordinary message policy or a valid independent retention hold. You can withdraw report sharing; the reviewer can decline by revoking their enrollment. Current source restrictions and agreement still apply. Contact local emergency services directly when immediate help is needed.

Storage and retention

The linked Privacy Policy describes the operative retention periods and flagged extensions. Edits, corrections, and derivatives follow their source's permissions and retention. Deleting a message for yourself hides your view; a permitted retraction can leave a tombstone or retained revision under the displayed policy. This retained-history service does not promise disappearing or view-once messages. Previously archived recordings are preserved under their existing policy. Family Meetings continue automatic archive recording; the no-recording rule applies to Messages calls.

Privacy, providers, and security

We use access controls and operational safeguards described in the Privacy Policy. Server processing can access content for its disclosed purposes; the service does not claim end-to-end or operator-blind secrecy. Authorized providers receive only what is necessary for their role. Notifications can be restricted by your device or network. You are responsible for the people who can access your device and for copies you intentionally share.

Account closure and availability

You may withdraw communications agreement, sign out, request your data or account closure, or contact the operator without accepting a new version. Withdrawal prevents new covered calls and ends current covered processing for your account. Requests are assessed under applicable rights, shared-content obligations, and disclosed retention; these Terms do not waive rights that cannot be waived. The service can have interruptions and features may change. No uninterrupted availability or perfect security is promised. Material policy changes are versioned, summarized, and require renewed agreement where applicable.

Current settings

The operator, contact, retention and provider settings for this version are listed once, at the end of the Privacy Policy.
